What is the function of ung gene?

The question was posed to me by my school principal while I was bunking the class.

Right option is (c) It is responsible for removal of uracil

Explanation: Ung gene is responsible for the removal of uracil. It does it by the enzyme Uracil-N-glycosylase and apyrimidinic site is created.
