What do you mean by ‘scale-down’?

I have been asked this question in an online interview.

The doubt is from Aeration and Agitation topic in section Aeration and Agitation of Fermentation Technology

Right answer is (a) Decreasing the scale of fermentation

To explain I would say: Scale-up means decreasing the scale of fermentation. Decreasing the scale of fermentation involves the decrease in volume that is from large scale to small scale.
