The base width of a most economical rectangular channel is 8m, calculate the hydraulic radius of the channel,

(a) 5m

(b) 4m

(c) 3m

(d) 2m

This question was addressed to me in an interview.

My question is based upon Most Economic Rectangular Section topic in portion Flow in Open Channels of Fluid Mechanics

Right choice is (d) 2m

The explanation is: B = 2y; y = 4m

R = y/2 = 2m.
