Calculate the hydraulic diameter for a rectangular duct having 10m width and 6m depth.

I have been asked this question in unit test.

My enquiry is from Geometrical Properties of Rectangular Section topic in section Flow in Open Channels of Fluid Mechanics

The correct answer is (c) 7.5m

The explanation is: Hydraulic diameter = 2By / B + y

Hydraulic diameter = 2(10) (6) / 16

Hydraulic diameter = 7.5m.
