(b) 10.23 HP

Correct answer is (b) 10.23 HP

To explain I would say: Maximum tension = 12 * 15 = 180kg

We know that

T = T1 + TC = 180

And, Tc = T/3

Tc = 180/3 = 60 kg

T1 = T-Tc = 180 – 60 = 120kg

T2 = T1/2.5 = 120/2.25 = 53.33 kg

P = (T1-T2) v = (T1 – T2) * 2π Nr

P = (120 – 53.33) * 2\pi * $\frac{220}{75*60}*\frac{1}{2}$

P = 10.23 HP.
