Calculate the time required for sowing 1 hectares of land by 5 furrows seed drill going 12 cm deep. The speed of seed drill is 3.5 km/h and pressure exerted by the soil on the seed drill is 0.42 kg/cm^2. The space between furrow openers is 10 cm and turning loss is 10%.

(a) 16.1 hours

(b) 5.29 hours

(c) 2.14 hours

Best answer
Correct option is (b) 5.29 hours

Explanation: Total width of speed drill = 5*12 = 0.6 m

Theoretical area/hour = 0.6*\(\frac{3.5*1000}{10000}\) = 0.21 hectares

Actual area per hour = \(\frac{0.21*90}{100}\) = 0.189 ha

Time for sowing 1 hectare land = \(\frac{1}{0.189}\) = 5.29 hours.
