What is the expression for head loss in case of a GVF?

(a) hf = ^L⁄2 Sf

(b) hf = LSf

(c) hf = 2LSf

(d) hf = 3LSf

I had been asked this question during an interview.

The question is from Gradually Varied Flow(GVF) in division Non Uniform Flow in Channels of Fluid Mechanics

Right option is (b) hf = LSf

For explanation: Analytically loss is given by the product of length of the back water curve and slope

Therefore, hf = LSf.
