Which of the following method is applicable for the design of channel transition when the water depths of the flumed and unflumed section are the same or maybe different?

(a) Mitra’s method of design of transitions

(b) Chaturvedi’s method of design of transitions

(c) Hind’s method of design of transitions

(d) The general method of design of transitions

The question was asked in an interview for internship.

Right option is (c) Hind’s method of design of transitions

To explain I would say: Mitra’s method was derived on the basis that the rate of change of velocity per unit length remains constant (i.e. water depth). Chaturvedi’s method is used for the design of channel transitions when water depth remains constant.
