When the slope is fully submerged, which of the following has to be used for finding stability number?

(a) Submerged density

(b) Shearing resistance

The question was posed to me by my school teacher while I was bunking the class.

This interesting question is from Taylor’s Stability Number and Curves in chapter Stability of Slopes of Geotechnical Engineering II

Right option is (a) Submerged density

The explanation: When the slope is fully submerged, the submerged density γ’, and weighted frictional angle φw should be used for computing stability number Sn.
