The change in voids ratio method is applicable for _________________

(a) only dry specimens

(b) only fully saturated specimens

(c) only partially saturated specimens

(d) for all types of specimens

I got this question in quiz.

My doubt is from Calculation of Voids Ratio and Coefficient of Volume Change in chapter One Dimensional Consolidation of Geotechnical Engineering I

Right answer is (b) only fully saturated specimens

For explanation I would say: For the change in voids ratio method the final voids ratio is calculated by the relation of ef=wf G. Where the wf represents the final water content and the degree of saturation is one percent.
