Correct option is (b) False

Easiest explanation: ux and uy are the primary variables in the expanded weak forms of the plane elasticity problems. Although ux and uy are independent of each other, they are the components of the displacement vector. Therefore, both components should be approximated using the same type and degree of interpolation.
