I got this question in an interview for internship.

My enquiry is from Fermentation Laboratory in chapter Equipping a Fermentation Laboratory, the Design and Preparation of Media for Bioprocesses of Fermentation Technology

Correct choice is (d) Osmotic shock

To explain I would say: Osmotic shock uses a solvent (mostly water) for the disruption of cells. The water can be moved inside the cells using osmosis causing the cell to increase in the volume and finally bursting of cells occur.
