In order to double the period of a simple pendulum, the length of the string should be

(b) doubled

(c) quadrupled

(d) none of the mentioned

The question was asked during an interview for a job.

The correct choice is (c) quadrupled

For explanation I would say: Periodic time, tp = 2п√L/g

             So, if period is doubled, then length should be quadrupled
