Find   J flux of A ( xA = 0.5)  if the total N flux is 6 mol/sq.m  sec and N flux of A is 3 mol/sq.m sec.

(a) 0

(b) 1

(c) 2

(d) 3

I had been asked this question during an interview for a job.

The query is from Molecular Diffusion in Liquids topic in portion Diffusion in Solids and Molecular Diffusion in Fluids of Mass Transfer

Correct option is (a) 0

To explain I would say: N flux of A = J flux of A + Total flux N * xA

                          3= J flux of A + 6 * 0.5

                    J flux = 0.
