Three fluids 1, 2 and 3 have Bulk Moduli of k1, k2 and k3 respectively. If k1 > k2 > k3, which liquid will have the highest compressibility?

(a) liquid 1

(b) liquid 2

(c) liquid 3

(d) they’ll have equal compressibilities

This question was addressed to me during a job interview.

My question is taken from Compressibility and Bulk Modulus topic in chapter Properties of Fluids of Fluid Mechanics

The correct option is (c) liquid 3

Best explanation: k = 1=β, where k= Bulk Modulus of elasticity and β= compressibility. If k1 > k2 > k3, then β1 < β2 < β3. Thus, liquid 3 will have the highest compressibility.
