Which of these is not a direct treatment on hemicellulose?

(a) Cellulase production

(b) Hexose fermentation

(c) Syngas fermentation

(d) Pentose fermentation

This question was addressed to me in examination.

Question is taken from Microbial Production of Fuels topic in section Bioleaching and Biomining for Recovery of Resources of Environmental Biotechnology

Right choice is (c) Syngas fermentation

For explanation I would say: Syngas fermentation is treatment on hemicellulose. It is also a treatment after the lignocellulose is gasified. Hence syngas fermentation is not a direct treatment.
