I had been asked this question in an interview for internship.

The correct choice is (b) Rocker arm shaft

For explanation: A valve stem is a self-contained valve that opens to admit a gas into the chamber. It is automatically closed to prevent the gas from escaping and kept sealed by the pressure in the chamber.
