The correct option is (a) upstream water depth only

The best explanation: When the afflux is less than 1/4 D/s depth, there is no effect on the discharge or on the U/s depth due to the formation of the standing wave. The discharge is only dependent upon U/s depth and is independent of D/s depth. It is applicable only when afflux is more than 1/4 of D/s.
