This question was posed to me during a job interview.

My question is taken from Contact Ratio in portion Toothed Gearing & Gear Trains of Machine Kinematics

The correct answer is (b) False

The best I can explain: In spur gears, the contact between meshing teeth occurs along the entire face width of the tooth, resulting in a sudden application of the load which, in turn, results in impact conditions and generates noise.
