A spur gear with pitch circle diameter D has number of teeth T. The module m is defined as

(a) m = d / T

(b) m = T / D

(c) m = π D / T

Correct answer is (a) m = d / T

To elaborate: Module is the ratio of the pitch circle diameter in millimetres to the number of teeth. It is usually denoted by m. Mathematically,

Module, m = D / T.
