This question was addressed to me in semester exam.

My doubt is from General Bearing Capacity Equation: Brinch Hansen’s Analysis topic in chapter Bearing Capacity of Geotechnical Engineering II

Right answer is (c) 9

The best I can explain: According to Skempton’s observation, for purely cohesive soil (φ = 0) Nc has a maximum value of 9 for square or circular footing.
