What is flotation?

(a) Removal of fine particles by air bubbles

I got this question in an international level competition.

My question comes from Mechanical Separation in chapter Mechanical Separation of Food Processing Unit Operations

Right answer is (a) Removal of fine particles by air bubbles

Easiest explanation: In some cases, where it is difficult to remove fine particles, therefore floatation equipment is used where these are floated to the surface with the help of air bubbles.
