1 kg of air is compressed from 40 m^3 volume under 100 kPa pressure to 1 m^3 volume.  What will be the pressure at constant temperature?

(a) 5000 kPa

(b) 6170 kPa

(c) 3215 kPa

(d) 4000 kPa

I have been asked this question during an interview.

My question is based upon Diesel Engine Vs. Petrol Engine topic in section Internal Combustion Engine of Farm Machinery

Correct option is (d) 4000 kPa

To explain: Using the relation

P1V1 = P2V2

P2 = \(\frac{P_1*V_1}{V_2} = \frac{100*40}{1} \)

P2 = 4000 kPa.
