For non-parallel shafts, chain drives are highly recommended.

(b) Gear drive is preferred

(c) Depends on the transmission ratio

(d) Can’t be stated

This question requires clarification and I found it in my homework.

This objective question is from the Chain Drives in lesson Friction Clutches, Brakes, Belt Drives and Chain Drives of Machine Design

Correct answer is (b) Gear drive is preferred

Expand on the concept with: Bevel or worm gears can be used in this case. Chain drives isn’t suitable for this application.
