In a reciprocating steam engine, which of the following forms a kinematic link?

(a) cylinder and piston

The question was posed to me in my homework.

My doubt is from Kinematic Link or Element in division Simple Mechanisms of Machine Kinematics

Correct answer is (c) crankshaft and flywheel

The explanation: Each part of a machine which moves relative to some other part, is known as a kinematic link. The piston and cylinder in a steam engine, form a pair and the motion of the piston is limited to a definite direction relative to the cylinder irrespective of the direction of motion of the crank.
