I have been asked this question in final exam.

My question is taken from Soil Samples and Samplers topic in section Stabilisation of Soils, Site Investigation and Sub – Soil Exploration of Geotechnical Engineering II

Correct option is (b) asphaltic emulsions

To explain I would say: For obtaining undistributed samples of soils, cohesion to the sand is imparted by adding asphaltic emulsions, or to freeze the sand at the sampling depth or near the lower end of the sampler.
