I got this question during a job interview.

My question comes from Stresses in Flexible Pavements in chapter Design of Flexible & Rigid Pavement of Geotechnical Engineering II

The correct choice is (b) False

To explain I would say: In Burmister analysis, the subgrade layers are homogeneous and isotropic. The surface layer is free from shearing and normal stress outside the loaded area. Also, the subgrade layers are elastic.
