Tailings is an output of which phase of mining?

(a) Extraction

(b) Beneficiation

(c) Processing

(d) Remediation

This question was addressed to me in an interview for internship.

My query is from Management of Mine Waste Soil in chapter Management and Remediation of Problem Soil of Environmental Biotechnology

The correct option is (b) Beneficiation

To elaborate: Tailings is an output of the benefication process and not of the other process like beneficiation, Processing and Remediation.
