I got this question by my college professor while I was bunking the class.

My enquiry is from Shapes of Wells and Component Parts in chapter Well Foundations of Geotechnical Engineering II

Correct choice is (c) Circular

To explain I would say: As the perimeter of the circle is equidistant at all points from the center of the dredge hole, the sinking is more uniform than other shapes.
