Which of the following methods can be used to reduce the soil alkalinity?

(a) Increase the acid content

(b) Anthropogenic contamination

(c) Increasing dissolved oxygen

(d) Mobilization of brines

This question was addressed to me by my school teacher while I was bunking the class.

My question is based upon Management of Alkali Soil topic in division Management and Remediation of Problem Soil of Environmental Biotechnology

The correct choice is (a) Increase the acid content

Best explanation: By making the soil more acidic, it is possible to reduce the soil alkalinity, Anthropogenic contamination, water-rock interaction and Mobilization of brines, whereas, increasing the dissolved oxygen does not help to reduce the pH.
