Which of the following statements is correct?

(a) Reaction force at supports is equal to the sum of the product of stiffness and displacement

(b) Reaction force at supports is equal to the product of sum of stiffness and displacement

(c) Reaction force at supports is equal to the sum of stiffness’s

(d) Reaction force at supports is equal to the sum of displacements

This question was addressed to me by my college professor while I was bunking the class.

My doubt is from Beams and Frames topic in section Beams and Frames of Finite Element Method

The correct answer is (a) Reaction force at supports is equal to the sum of the product of stiffness and displacement

The explanation: Reaction force at supports is equal to the sum of the product of stiffness and displacement. The stiffness and displacement matrices are multiplied for each element and then cumulated to find the reaction force at supports.
