A car moving with uniform acceleration cover 450 m in a 5 second interval, and covers 700 m in the next 5 second interval. The acceleration of the car is

(a) 7 m/s^2

(b) 50 m/s^2

(c) 25 m/s^2

(d) 10 m/s^2

The question was posed to me by my school principal while I was bunking the class.

My question is taken from Coefficient of Friction topic in division Friction of Machine Kinematics

The correct option is (d) 10 m/s^2

Easiest explanation: s = ut + 1/2at^2

at t = 5 sec, s = 450

450 = u(5) + 1/2a(25)

at t = 10 sec, s = 450 + 700 = 1150

1150 = u(10) = 1/2a(100)

a = 10 m/sec^2.
