Which of the following is true regarding the limiting friction?

(a) Its value is equal to the force applied in the opposite direction which tends to move the body

This question was posed to me in semester exam.

My question is based upon Limiting Friction in chapter Friction of Machine Kinematics

The correct answer is (a) Its value is equal to the force applied in the opposite direction which tends to move the body

To explain: For the limiting friction, the maximum value it can attain is μ.N, until then it has the same value as the force applied in the opposite direction which tends to move the body.
