I have been asked this question by my college professor while I was bunking the class.

The question is from Exact Straight Line Motion Consisting of One Sliding Pair in chapter Mechanisms with Lower Pairs of Machine Kinematics

Right answer is (a) Scott Russell’s mechanism

The explanation: Scott Russell’s mechanism is an exact straight line mechanism, however this mechanism is not so useful for practical purposes as friction and wear of sliding pair is more than that of turning pair.
