Which of the following represent the maximum angular acceleration?

(a) αmax = Φ(ω1)^2

(b) αmax = Φ2 (ω1)^2

(c) αmax = (ω1)^2/ Φ

(d) αmax = (ω1)^2/ Φ^2

This question was addressed to me in an internship interview.

This is a very interesting question from Effect of Gyroscopic Couple on a Navalship during Pitching & Rolling in section Gyroscopic Couple and Precessional Motion of Machine Dynamics

Right option is (a) αmax = Φ(ω1)^2

To explain I would say: The angular acceleration is given by the formula : α = -Φ(ω1)^2 sin (ω1t), hence the maximum will occur when sin (ω1t)=1.
