Which component of the pumping chamber prevents ground water from entering the septic tank?

(a) Pump lift chain

(b) Access riser

(c) Check valve

(d) Union

This question was posed to me by my college director while I was bunking the class.

Query is from Inverted Siphon, Storm Regulator and Sewage Pumping topic in portion Construction of Sewers, Sewer Appurtenances and Sewage Pumping of Environmental Engineering

Right answer is (b) Access riser

To explain I would say: Access riser are large diameter riser with a 61cm diameter that prevents the ground and surface water from entering the septic tank.
