Which of the following pump can effectively lift water under the maximum suction head of 6 to 8 meters?

(a) A single-stage centrifugal pump

(b) Submersible pumps

(c) Turbine pumps

Right option is (a) A single-stage centrifugal pump

Easiest explanation: A centrifugal pump works effectively under the maximum suction head of 6 to 8 m. Such pumps can be used at places where the fluctuations in water table plus the depression head are limited to a maximum of 8 m. The borehole type pump is used for larger values.
