How inversion is obtained in an elliptical trammel?

I got this question in an interview.

My query is from Double Slider Crank Chain & its Inversions in division Simple Mechanisms of Machine Kinematics

Correct choice is (a) Fixing the slotted plate

The best I can explain: An elliptical trammel is an instrument which is an inversion of a double slider crank chain, here the inversion is obtained by fixing the slotted plate. It is used to draw ellipses.
