The sample in standard penetration test has inner diameter of _________ mm.

This question was addressed to me by my college director while I was bunking the class.

Question is taken from Geophysical Methods topic in chapter Stabilisation of Soils, Site Investigation and Sub – Soil Exploration of Geotechnical Engineering II

Right answer is (c) 35

For explanation: In the standard penetration test, thick wall split-tube samplers are used which has an inner diameter of 35 mm or 1.5 inches. The outer diameter of the sampler is 50.8 mm.
