I have been asked this question in semester exam.

My question is taken from The Mohr topic in chapter Failure Envelopes & Earth Pressure of Geotechnical Engineering II

The correct answer is (a) Cross land

To explain I would say: Experiments conducted by Cross land in 1965 have demonstrated that a pure state of hydrostatic pressure is unable to produce failure even under enormous pressure.
