My query is from Soil as Three Phase System in chapter Preliminary Definitions and Relationships of Geotechnical Engineering I

Correct option is (b) the volume of air and volume of water

To explain I would say: The voids in soil mass are occupied by air and water. Hence, the volume of voids equals to the volume of air and volume of water.
