Correct choice is (a) prevent recrystallisation

To explain: Chromium is added to aluminum to prevent recrystallization in aluminum alloys during heat treatment by controlling grain structure, to prevent grain growth in aluminum alloys.  Chromium also reduces stress corrosion susceptibility and improves toughness.
